LIFE COACHING
What is Life Coaching?
Coaching is professional and personal relationship between two people, the
coach and the client, or coachee. The role of the coach is to help the client.
The role of the client is to agree to total commitment and honesty in dealing
with the issues that concern them.
It can take place in a variety of settings, face to face, or on the
telephone. The coachee calls at a set time and sessions are usually at weekly
intervals, each one typically lasting between 40-50 minutes.
Coaching has a long history, with solid foundations in psychology, philosophy
and education. Over the past few years, coaching has altered in shape and form.
Professional standards, coach specialities and coaching niche areas are further
evolving and changing as coaching continues to establish itself as a recognised,
stand-alone profession.
What can coaching do for me?
Space to think…………………… Coaching aims to
provide a relationship that focuses on what you want to achieve, whilst
highlighting the importance of balance in your life. With emphasis on action
towards goals, it gives you time to examine your values and beliefs, especially
if they are stopping you attaining your dream. Coaching helps you to define your
own life plan, leading you through all areas of your life – mind, body,
spirit, emotions – without judgement or criticism, supporting you through each
step. You have the answers!
Increased self awareness………….. Like counselling,
coaching will help you reflect on who you are. Unlike therapy or counselling,
life coaching starts from where you are now and helps you get to where you want
to be. It will help you to find your strengths and increase your confidence. It
will allow you to take responsibility for your life, whilst providing support
during change. I believe that everyone has the creative potential and resources
to get what he or she wants and you can start NOW!
